My favourite holiday… October 23, 2009

eiffel-tower-parisI love summer and the best thing of it is the travelling!Every summer I go on holidays to a different country for a couple of weeks. The time when I went from Italy to Scotland by bus was the most interesting and fascinating expirience. The journey lasted for twentyfive days.It was a bit tiring but I visited so many new placed and learned about other cultures that I enjoyed every minute of it.Every country I visited had unique characteristics and  was uncompairable. For example the counrtyside in Switzerland is marvellous,Paris is a place inspired from a fairytale, in London you can find whatever you want and the same goes to every single country.

The best part of it was when we visited the Madam Tussauds museum. My best friend and I took photos of ourselves together with the most famous actors ,actresses and singers. We had so much fun….

I’ve also wrote about my holidays this year in a previous ppst in our blog…

TEACHERS’ DAY!!! October 6, 2009

teacher-degreeYesterday was the Teachers day!Teachers are a very important part of young children’s lives as they are the people who teach them how to talk, how to read and even sometimes how to behave. Moreover usually students spend more time with their teachers than with their parents. So I would like to share with you the most memorable moment I had in the class. It was when we had History lesson and a boy swore a girl because she was an immigrant from another country, then our history teacher stopped the lesson and started telling us about how harmful prejudices are and that we should be more open-minded and patient. Then after the break the boy approached the girl and said he was sorry and he had never done this before as it was the worst thing he had ever done. This teacher inspired all of us and taught as that not only history is important but also learn to respect other people, their culture and traditions. This lesson was the best lesson I’ve ever attented.

The lemon tree… September 29, 2009

These days something strange happened to me…It may have happened to you too…Sometimes when I listen to a song I relate it to a situation or a person…I don’t know why. Maybe the lyrics or the tune. And then I  listen to it on and on.Isn’t is strange?

Well this song reminds me of my Friend Billy…

I wonder how I wonder why

Yesterday you told me about the blue blue sky

And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon tree…

Coco Chanel… September 19, 2009

Filed under: people — eve @ 10:43 am

16201 As a little girl I had many role models from singers to models and actresses. However one of the people who I still admire and has influenced me is Gabrielle Bonheur ‘Coco’ Chanel.

She was a pioneering French fashion designer whose modernist philosophy and belief of expensive simplicity made her an important figure in 20th century fashion. Not having a mother , as she died early, Coco spent her childhood in an orphanage while working in a tailor.Starting  from nothing   she soon built an empire.Beginning in a small shop she tried to give women a sense of freedom and as a poor girl she couldn’t afford to buy expensive fabrics so she took what were considered law quality fabrics like jersey and upgraded them. Moreover through her menswear-inspired fashion she helped in the independance and equality of women.

After  being informed that she had turned her back on her roots and claimed her father was a rich businessman my little-girl fascination bagan to fade. However after realising that most of her fashions had a staying power and didn’t change much from even generation to generation.Products like Chanel  No5, the little black dress and her signature cardigan jacket made me change my mind nad I still admire her achievements .

Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel rose to become one of the premier fashion designers in Paris.Still many modern fashion designers are influenced by her and a considerable amount of people recognise her as an innovator. My life is richer for having been touched by her example.
